Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation

FAQs for Donors

What is the mission of CFPF?
To provide college scholarships and educational counseling to the children of military personnel who have been killed in combat or training. Our goal is to bridge the gap in funding between available sources of grants and scholarships (i.e., VA Chapter 35, federal, state, local and private grants) and the total cost of college. We hope to ensure that no child covered by our mission has to go out-of-pocket or take on loans to pay for college.

Is my donation tax deductible?
CFPF is an authorized 501(c)(3) organization (EIN 47- 0902295). Consult your tax advisor concerning the tax deductibility of your donation.

How much of my donation goes to scholarship grants versus paying overhead costs of CFPF?
Our philosophy is to treat your money like our own. To that end, so far all of our operating expenses have been paid by the members of our Board of Advisors and Directors. Thus every dollar you donate goes to aid the children. We will continue this policy for as long as we can, however we can offer no guarantees since our expenses will continue to grow as we expand.

How much has CFPF dispersed so far?
As of December 2008, we have awarded over $450,000 in scholarships to 87 children around the country and have begun the process with 700 new children. While our numbers are increasing rapidly, we have many more yet to reach. Also, approximately 70% of the surviving children are 11 or younger and thus our needs and disbursements will increase over time.
