Scholar Highlight: Izy Brown

Izy is the daughter of Sergeant First Class Jess Brown who passed away from suicide in 2014. When asked what her father’s military service means to her, Izy says, “my father’s military service evokes pride and gratitude. His dedication to the Army has greatly influenced my growth and professional interests. I am fortunate to have witnessed his commitment, both as a soldier and as a present father figure.”

With the help of Fallen Patriots, Izy graduated from University of Arizona with a degree in Political Science and Studies of Global Media. She has gone on to earn a Masters in Criminal Justice and Criminology – Cybercrime, and is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Criminal Justice – Homeland Security.

When asked how receiving a scholarship from Fallen Patriots has impacted her journey, Izy says, “Their commitment to my career path has been both genuine and caring. They have boosted my confidence, broadened my network, challenged me, alleviated my financial burdens, and motivated me to continue my education.”

There are approximately 25,000 children who have lost an active-duty parent in the military over the last 35 years. The vision of Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation is to ensure that every such child receives all necessary college funding.
