Fallen Patriots Announces Renewed $1 Million Matching Grant from Admiral Bill McRaven, recipient of the Bezos Courage and Civility Award

Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation today announced the renewal of a $1 million matching grant that will extend through July 31, 2026. Every eligible donation made during this period, up to $1M, will be doubled, providing life-changing educational opportunities for the children of America’s fallen heroes. The grant is made possible by Admiral Bill McRaven who was presented the Bezos Courage and Civility Award by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and his wife Lauren Sánchez Bezos in 2024.

As our nation approaches its 250th birthday in 2026, this renewed match offers Americans a meaningful way to honor 250 years of service and sacrifice by investing in the futures of military children who lost a parent in the line of duty.

Mission and Impact

Fallen Patriots provides college and trade school scholarships, educational assistance, and career support to military children who lost a parent in the line of duty. The Foundation’s impact is measurable:

  • Without support, just 20% of children who lose a parent complete college. With Fallen Patriots, that graduation rate soars to an impressive 91% — far exceeding the national average of 64%.
  • 52% come from low-income families.
  • 38% are first-generation college students.
  • According to the Bridgespan Group, a leading independent social impact consulting firm, every $1 invested in a Fallen Patriots scholar delivers a 16x ROI, resulting in an average $405K increase in lifetime earnings.

These statistics underscore the transformative difference donor support makes in breaking cycles of hardship and opening doors to opportunity.
