Bear Grylls is known around the world as one of the most recognized faces of survival and outdoor adventure and star of the Discovery Channel’s Emmy nominated TV show Man Vs Wild and Born Survivor.  He is now also known for launching a viral video campaign, #DropAndGiveMe10.

Viral Campaign Supports College Scholarships

With over 800,000 views of his #DropAndGiveMe10 video on Facebook, his May 23rd Facebook post doing ten push-ups in honor of fallen patriots caused the campaign to go viral, with a domino-effect of celebrities challenging celebrities.

Kicking off during Memorial Day Weekend added more relevance and a deepermeaning for many Americans who have lost a loved one while serving in the United States military.

As an effort to spread awareness and to raise money for Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation, whose mission is to provide college scholarships and educational counseling to military children who have lost a parent while serving our country, participants in the challenge film a video of themselves doing pushups in honor of our fallen patriots.  For each successful pushup, they donate $2, $5 or $10 to Children of Fallen Patriots and then challenge three more people to do the same.

Bear Grylls challenged Kathie Lee Gifford, Drew Brees and Jesse Tyler Ferguson, well-known for portraying Mitchell Pritchett on the ABC smash-hit sitcom Modern Family. Kathie Lee accepted the challenge, but because of recent neck injuries, she asked Hoda to do the push-ups for her during The Today Show’s Kathie Lee and Hoda.  Hoda did the push-ups and then challenged Matt Lauer, Jimmy Fallon and Meredith Vieira.  Kathie Lee, who attempted the challenge by inverting her push-ups, which got a good laugh from her show audience, challenged Greg Gutfeld and Hugh Jackman.

Gutfeld, a co-host on Fox News The Five and star of his new talk show, The Greg Gutfeld Show, accepted the challenge and then nominated Bill O’Reilly, Dana Perino and Kimberly Guifoyle, all from Fox News.  Perino and Guifoyle are co-hosts with Gutfeld on The Five.  New Orlean Saints Quarterback Drew Brees then took the Drop And Give Me 10 Challenge, who nominated Defensive Coordinator Rob Ryan, who nominated Andy Cohen.  Cohen is a talk show host and executive producer for Real Housewives.  Cohen accepted the challenge and then nominated Randal Gritchuck, outfielder for his favorite team, St. Louis Cardinals.  All celebrity videos can be viewed HERE

In addition to celebrities, we are seeing support from individuals around the country, radio stations and media.   Because of this heightened awareness and commitments for donating dollars per pushup, we are so grateful.  We are looking forward to seeing more videos for our push-up challenge and are so honored to be part of this effort.

Participant videos are being posted on social media platforms’ Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and Facebook with the hashtag #DropandGiveMe10.  Donations can be made online HERE
