“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.”  - Ghandi

On October 24th, millions of volunteers across the nation will unite with a common mission – to improve the lives of others. In its 24th year, Make A Difference Day is the largest national day of community service.

Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation relies on the generosity of volunteers for their organization. Companies and individuals alike volunteer their time to help coordinate and execute fundraising events which not only raise money but help spread awareness.  Our foundation would not be nearly as strong without these volunteer efforts.

A partner of ours that has made a big difference to our foundation is Citi, who offers a broad range of financial services and products for consumers, corporations, governments and institutions, also provides volunteer services for our organization. Year after year, they have dedicated their staff as volunteers for our fundraising events.

There are lots of ways you can help, too.

We provide college scholarships for military children who’ve lost a parent while serving our country and partner with schools around the country.  Military children can also help fill the financial gap through their volunteer efforts; there are also a number of scholarships based on volunteer services.

Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes: Each year the Barron Prize awards 10 students who have made a significant positive difference to people and the environment with a $5,000 scholarship.

Stephen J. Brady Stop Hunger Scholarships: This scholarship recognizes students who have made an impact in the fight against hunger. Recipients receive a $5,000 scholarship and a matching grant in their name for the charity of their choice.

Christopher Reeve Award Program: This $1,000 scholarship is given to teens who have demonstrated tremendous courage, compassion and caring in serving his or her community.

These are just a few of the many volunteer scholarship opportunities you can find on scholarship searches like studentaid.ed.gov, scholarships.com, fastweb.com and collegeboard.org.

Together, we can make a difference in the lives of military families across the country who’ve already made the ultimate sacrifice.  To make a difference in Fallen Patriots today, click here: http://www.fallenpatriots.org/ways-to-help/donate/
