RESOLVE TO INVOLVE YOURSELF IN FALLEN PATRIOTS MISSION

Jan 1, 2016

The beginning of a new year provides an opportunity to take a step back and reflect on the success of the past year and the growth of the year to come. Feelings of a renewed sense of hope and opportunity for positive change, commonly occur while New Year’s resolutions are made. Setting financial goals, such as saving for a child’s college tuition, is a particularly popular resolution for parents, and one with which Fallen Patriots scholars’ parents need assistance.

In the last 35 years, nearly 25,000 children have lost a parent in the line of duty, and of those families, approximately 63% earn less than 50K per year. That is why this year, we challenge you to join us. We challenge you to Resolve to Involve yourself in ensuring an education for military children who lost a parent in the line of duty.

With each scholar, Fallen Patriots strives to provide the education their fallen patriot would have wanted for them.

Sarah Greene, for instance, lost her husband, Marine Corps pilot David Greene, when he was shot and killed during a helicopter mission in Iraq. She immediately felt the weight of responsibility to secure a successful future for their ten-year-old daughter Jena and eight-year-old son Wesley.

“In the midst of all the shock and disbelief of losing David, my biggest concern was how I would take care of our children and their futures alone,” explained Sarah. “I started worrying literally within days of his death.”

With college as expensive as it is, she knew her family would have to make big sacrifices. Sarah’s kids had endured enough after losing their dad.

Resolve to Involve yourself in assisting families like the Greenes in one of the following ways this year:

1. Spread awareness by following us on Twitter and Facebook: Share our posts with your friends!
2. Become a monthly donor: $10 a month changes the game for our scholars.
3. Sponsor a fundraiser or event: Choose us as your charity of choice for your next local event!

Bring in the New Year with the old tradition of generosity. Resolve to Involve yourself in the community of people who remember those who have given so much for all of us.

We look forward to hearing from you!
