FALLEN PATRIOTS HONORS BLACK HISTORY MONTH

Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation pays respect to all soldiers who have served honorably from the Revolutionary War to today’s operations. During Black History Month, Fallen Patriots will remember the instrumental accomplishments of past African American leaders, while also celebrating future history makers. The importance of selfless service to humanity without regard to race, ethnicity or religious beliefs will be stressed during the month long campaign.

A college education is the single most important gift all Gold Star military children can receive. Fallen Patriots is dedicated to serving all branches of the armed forces, regardless of race or cultural background.

Black History Month celebrates young men and women pursuing excellence, including Fallen Patriots scholars, like Janna Moore. Moore’s father, SSG Shaun Jeffrey Whitehead, died in Iraq after wounds sustained when he encountered an improvised explosive device while on a dismounted patrol.

Military families who lose a loved one in the line of duty typically face an average cost gap of $32,000 for a four-year college education. With the help of Fallen Patriots, Moore doesn’t have to worry about college finances. She hopes to earn her Doctorate in Psychology at the University of Kentucky.

Inez Prosser helped pave the way to Jana Moore’s future successes. Prosser earned a PhD in psychology in 1933, the first such degree earned by an African American woman. Although her life was short, Inez Prosser was instrumental in assisting many black students in obtaining funds for college and graduate study. She had a lifelong passion for education and an understanding of the power it offered for changing lives.

Fallen Patriots honors the heroic African Americans who strived to create equal education. Support for equal education can be shared one story at a time. From the first institute established for black students to the monumental Brown v. Board of Education court case, Fallen Patriots recognizes the tremendous movement of equality.
