SELFLESS ACTS: SGM MICHAEL METTILLE

Feb 4, 2016

Selfless soldiers are those who truly go above and beyond the call of duty. Our military heroes fight together, face death together and risk their lives for each other. They lead with their heart and soul in a manner worthy of respect from their followers. Selfless soldiers and their families are all about strength during weak times.

Elizabeth Goldapp’s dad, SGM Michael Mettille, died while she was in college. It was impossible for her to finish college successfully, at the time, on an emotional and psychological level.

“My dad was always a selfless person above all else. His sacrifice was the ultimate selfless act,” explained Elizabeth. “His job while deployed was largely taking care of others. He did that and did it well. His sacrifice is a reminder to myself to lead a life with an open heart.”

It takes bravery to be as selfless as those who paid the ultimate sacrifice. Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation believes that we can all display a fraction of the courage that our fallen soldiers have demonstrated.

SGM Michael Mettille was a jack of all trades. Elizabeth’s fondest memories of him include learning from him.  He was a calm, collected leader who had a lot of heart to share.

With the help of Fallen Patriots, Elizabeth graduated from college with a 4.0 GPA.

“My dad would be proud of the woman I’ve grown to be,” explained Elizabeth.
