Student Spotlight: Ryan R.
Ryan is the son of Army Staff Sergeant Kenneth R., who passed away in 2003. Ryan is a rising junior at Centre College in Kentucky where he studies Anthropology and Sociology. He has been playing soccer since he was three years old and plays on Centre College’s Men’s Soccer team as their forward striker.
When asked what his career goals are, Ryan says that he would love to either further his endeavors as a professional soccer player or work for a federal agency after college. Ryan does not have any memories of his father since he passed away when he was only one year old. However, he says that his favorite memories of his father would be “…the stories my mother tells me about how much of a loving father my dad was to me and my sisters.”
Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation is assisting Ryan with his college expenses and has said that the scholarship has helped him stay financially stable throughout his college experience. Ryan is set to graduate debt free from Centre College in May 2023.
There are approximately 25,000 children who have lost an active-duty parent in the military over the last 35 years. The vision of Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation is to ensure that every such child receives all necessary college funding.
