Mia N. is the daughter of U.S. Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Martin N., who passed away in 2008. When asked how friends and family would describe her father, Mia says, “He valued family, friends, and his country so much that he gave his life for it. My dad was funny; he would always joke around with everyone and made sure they had a smile on their face.”
Mia is a freshman at the Savannah College of Art and Design where she studies Animation and Business Management. When asked what her future goals are, Mia says, “I want to join the small amount of female animators in the 3D animation industry. I want to work for the top animation companies such as Disney, Pixar, DreamWorks, etc.” Mia is also a member of her school's Women's soccer team. When asked what she thinks her father would be most proud of her for, she tells Fallen Patriots that she thinks he would be proud of her for going to college 20 hours away from home to follow her dreams.
“Children of Fallen Patriots has given me an opportunity of a lifetime to do what I dream of doing without having to worry about finances. On another level, they have connected me with other young adults who have gone through exactly what I have gone through. I wouldn't be here (SCAD) without them.”
There are approximately 25,000 children who have lost a parent in the line of duty over the past 35 years. The vision of Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation is to ensure that every such child receives all necessary college funding.
