Gotta Run with Will TV Show Announces Sponsorship
Now entering its fifth year on Manhattan Neighborhood Network [MNN}, Gotta Run with Will has selected Run Anyway as its first and only sponsor.
Gotta Run with Will, a show on Manhattan Neighborhood Network (MNN) about the culture of running which highlights the ways running can change your life, has selected the Run Anyway Foundation as its first and only sponsor. The mission of the Run Anyway Foundation is to empower athletes and those in need to improve their lives through perseverance, positivity and commitment to a goal in the face of adversity by running for those who cannot run for themselves.
“Gotta Run with Will features guests who have used the gift of running to transform their lives and to better the lives of others,” states executive producer Will Sanchez. “Our pitch dovetails nicely with Run Anyway, a 501(c)3 charitable foundation based in New Jersey which started in the wake of the cancellation of the 2012 New York City Marathon.” Run Anyway co-founder Lance Svendsen says the organization began because “we wanted a way, after having raised money for charity, to fulfill our marathon miles and we would do it in Central Park, using the example of the original NYC Marathon.”
“I loved that ‘Anyway’ started as a Facebook event to help charity runners and then built on that success to create the Run Anyway Foundation to support charities by running to raise funds,” declares Mr. Sanchez. “Our first joint effort is to promote the ‘450 For The Fallen.’ This is a 450+ mile running relay, leaving from Concord Massachusetts on May 22nd 2014 and arriving in Arlington Virginia four days later on May 26th to benefit the Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation.”
The "450 For The Fallen" relay is to honor those who have died defending the United States by helping their children in one of the best ways possible, a college education. During the Bronx stage of the relay, some runners will pass through the Putnam Nature Trail to show solidarity with the local community, from toddlers to senior citizens, who love walking the Trail. “Run Anyway is thrilled to be part of saving this unique 1.5 mile dirt road located in Van Cortlandt Park that has also been an educational resource to the children of the area,” states Mr. Svendsen.
Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation provides college scholarships and educational counseling to military children who have lost a parent in the line of duty. Since inception, Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation has granted more than $6.5 million in scholarships to over 400 children.
Save the Putnam Trail is petitioning City Hall in protest of the Parks Department’s plan to raze 1.5 acres of trees and brush to make way for a paved 10-foot wide bicycle speedway addition to the Trail.
