Started by PepsiCo in 2015, Rolling Remembrance is an 8,000+ mile long relay of an American flag to benefit the Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation. U.S. Military Veteran drivers use normal business routes to pass off a flag to each other at different relay points.
On May 16th, the flag arrived at the Lima facility and was handed over to transport driver and veteran Lucas Dietz. Lucas served in the Navy for four years and has been with PepsiCo for 11 years. An event was then held for the manufacturing, warehouse and sales teams. During the event, Mike O’Brien and Tom Sullivan of Pepsi Beverages Co. addressed the crowd and thanked them for raising over $4,300 for the Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation.
Later that day, Lucas and the flag headed to the Toledo plant where it was handed over to transport driver and veteran Dave Russell. Dave served in the Air Force for four years and has been with PepsiCo for 17 years. While there, Angie Spezia, John Sheehy and Ryan McKelvey of Pepsi Beverages Co. each spoke to attendees about the significance of Rolling Remembrance and how they can help to raise awareness for the Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation.
Dave and the flag arrived at the Twinsburg plant later that day for the final Ohio stop. Dave handed over the flag to Fleet Mechanic and Army Reserve Veteran Dustin Sandor and the flag was secured overnight.
On May 17th, Michael Noble of Pepsi Beverages Co. kicked off the Twinsburg event by acknowledging all the veterans in attendance and thanked all of Pepsi Beverages Co. Twinsburg for their generous donation efforts. During the event, Dustin handed the flag over to Transport Driver and veteran Rich Bartley. Rich served in the U.S. Army Reserves for two years and has been with PepsiCo for 13 years.
