'HAMMOND HOLE IN ONE' AT THE MANATEE COVE GOLF COURSE AT PATRICK AIR FORCE BASE BIG SUCCESS
BREVARD COUNTY • PATRICK AIR FORCE BASE, FLORIDA – Florida Prep’s Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corp unit’s first annual charity golf tournament, “Hammond Hole In One” was a big success on April 26 at the Manatee Cove Golf Course at Patrick Air Force Base.
The golf tourney raised almost $14,000 for the “Children of Fallen Patriots” and for the Florida Prep AFJROTC unit.
The event offered participants the rare opportunity to play the 18-hole par 72 course located between the Banana River and the Atlantic Ocean, which is generally reserved for military personnel and their invited guests only.
“A full slate of 90 golfers participated in the shotgun tournament, which found itself vastly oversubscribed due to the rare opportunity to play the challenging Manatee Cove course, located within the boundaries of Patrick Air Force Base,” said Florida Prep spokesperson Jeanette Middleton.
“The event is set to become a yearly fundraiser – and several sponsors are already committed to the next tournament in April 2020.”
In addition to great golf, festivities included a BBQ dinner, and raffles and contests, including the Lexus of Melbourne Hole in One, The Vista Florida Realty Long Drive contest and the Closest to the Pin contest.
Also, a 30-minute clinic was conducted by PGA professional Kent Graham and silent auction items donated by golfing greats Justin Rose, Adam Scott, Ian Poulter and Graeme McDowell were up for bid.
