Scarsdale, NY – Southpoint Capital Advisors’ Sixth Annual Charitable Golf Outing resulted in charitable proceeds of over $640,000 directed to two non-profit organizations on a mission to honor the sacrifices of those who have laid down their lives to save others.  Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation (Fallen Patriots) and Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation each received $320,000 in donations on Tuesday, July 9 at Quaker Ridge Golf Club in Scarsdale, New York.

“Southpoint Capital has generated awareness for the mission and raised a grand total of nearly $1,400,000 in funding, providing 224 years of debt-free education for Fallen Patriots scholarship recipients,” said David Kim, co-founder and CEO of Fallen Patriots.  “We are honored and grateful to Ben Carter, Josh Clark, Anthony Buffalano, Adam Nemser and all the wonderful people at Southpoint for their support.”

Fallen Patriots provides college scholarships and educational counseling to military children who have lost a parent in the line of duty.  Scholarship recipients receive holistic support from the foundation through corporate partnerships, which allow professional growth and development in the form of internships and job placements.  Scholarship recipient and Southpoint Capital summer intern James Wood shared how Fallen Patriots and Southpoint Capital have impacted his life with over 100 attendees of the golf outing. “The opportunity to intern at Southpoint Capital this summer has really been great for me.  All the people there are really supportive, and it’s really cool to see how a hedge fund works from the inside.”  James is the son of fallen U.S. Air Force Senior Airman William D. Wood, Jr. and is studying economics and management at University of Oxford.

“We are honored to have the opportunity to support the families of veterans who have given everything to our country and to our way of life.  It is our privilege to be able to lend a hand to these young men and women who are aspiring to lift themselves up from tragedy and fulfill the dreams of their fallen loved ones.  We believe the mission of Children of Fallen Patriots is perfectly aligned to the goals we hope to achieve,” said Ben Carter, Partner for Southpoint Capital Advisors and member of Fallen Patriots’ board of directors.

Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation was also a recipient of a $350,000 donation.  The Foundation is inspired by firefighter Stephen Siller’s heroic death on September 11, 2001.  Siller lived by the inspirational phrase ‘while we have time, let us do good.’  His legacy continues through the impact the foundation makes on fallen first responders and military service members and their families.

The 6th annual charitable golf outing was made possible by Southpoint Capital team members Melissa Mangan, Ben Carter, Josh Clark, Anthony Buffalano, Adam Nemser, and generous donations from sponsors including presenting sponsors Rice Voelker and Jones Trading.
