Proceeds Support Military Children Who Have Lost a Parent in the Line of Duty
(June 9, 2020) – J&P Cycles, part of the Comoto Family of Brands, partnered with Children of Fallen Patriots from May 1st to May 25th for its Round Up campaign to support children who have lost a parent in the line of duty. Customers who made purchases at J&P Cycles had the option to round-up their change and J&P Cycles matched all the rounded-up purchases during the campaign. Proceeds from the campaign went to benefit Children of Fallen Patriots, a national nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide college scholarships and educational counseling to military children who have lost a parent in the line of duty.
“On the heels of Memorial Day, when our nation honors those who made the ultimate sacrifice, we are proud to announce that J&P Cycles, the largest seller of parts and accessories to motorcycle riders, has raised $15,000 toward supporting the children of fallen heroes. This month, J&P Cycles partnered with Children of Fallen Patriots because we share in their belief that college education is the single most important gift we can give the children of fallen heroes. Through our Round Up campaign, we matched our customer donations in order to support these children in need and honor the legacy of their parents lost in the line of duty,” said Zach Parham, President of J&P Cycles.
Customers who made purchases on jpcycles.com or at J&P Cycles retail locations had the option to round-up their change to benefit Children of Fallen Patriots with the goal of raising enough money to be able to provide one year of college for four or more children of fallen patriots.
“We are so grateful to J&P Cycles and its customers for going above and beyond to serve families of fallen servicemembers. With their generous support, Children of Fallen Patriots is able to continue giving children across the country peace of mind by providing scholarships toward their college and vocational studies,” remarked Cynthia Kim, Co-Founder of Children of Fallen Patriots.
Children of Fallen Patriots reports that nearly 20,000 dependents have been left behind by troops fallen in the line of duty over the past 35 years. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, Children of Fallen Patriots surveyed their scholarship recipients and startlingly found that nearly 50% of their students and parents have lost their jobs even as 70% of their colleges are not providing any financial relief from the pandemic.
With no central repository of information from which to find these children, the organization works to find each and every one of these children to assist them in their growing success.
