Caroline F. is the daughter of fallen U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel Paul F. She was very young when he died but remembers him as an extremely kind and humorous man who would do anything for his friends and family. “He loved spending time with my sisters and me; he would never pass up a chance to play tea party or Barbies,” she says. “He was so friendly and could make conversation with anyone and light up any room.”

With the help of Children of Fallen Patriots, Caroline is double majoring in economics and art history at Brown University. She plans to attend graduate school overseas to obtain both her master’s and doctorate degrees. “I hope to either work in a think tank or as an art dealer,” she says. “By Fallen Patriots providing generous scholarships, I am able to afford my college education, which will greatly help me in pursuing my future career goals.”

Caroline believes her father would be very proud of her work ethic and determination. “I worked very hard throughout high school to achieve my dream of attending an Ivy League university and being salutatorian of my high school class. I know my father would have been so proud of me.”

Her father’s military service taught Caroline how to stay positive, even in the toughest times. “My father faced many challenges in the military, but he always looked at issues with a “glass half full” mentality. I miss my father greatly, but his service taught me to always face challenges with a positive attitude.”

Fallen Patriots aims to identify and provide scholarships to all 25,000 children who have lost a parent in the line of duty over the past 35 years.
