“Happiness is a journey, not a destination”
Spring time often brings a new energy to life, the awareness of a new beginning. Like the seasons, stages of grief will come and go. Children of Fallen Patriots strives to be part of the healing process that eventually brings a sense of happiness to surviving military families.
Finding happiness can be challenging to anyone, no matter what their circumstances may be. Military children of the fallen have faced a tremendous loss that is certain to impact one’s happiness. Surviving scholars have expressed to Fallen Patriots that they often find happiness in knowing their parent died with honor and purpose, serving our great nation. They also find happiness in future opportunities, including college.
Despite the challenges that serving our country entails, the military provides many of the essential elements to finding happiness, including having a meaningful impact on the world, having true camaraderie and having the opportunities to develop skills.
Every surviving scholar has a different path and timeline on the road to recovery. Although, they all seem to hold on to faith and hope as they move towards a brighter future.
