Children of Fallen Patriots scholar Justin J. is the son of U.S. Army Specialist Anthony J., who passed away in 2005. When asked how friends and family would describe his dad, Justin says, “I know he was a great soldier, and he loved my mom and me and my little brother. He made sure that we were provided for and had everything we needed when he was away. Everyone says that he was a great man and soldier.”
With the help of Children of Fallen Patriots, Justin is a freshman at Clemson University where he is a Health Science major. He plans to become a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with a focus on Cardiology. Justin explains that his mom inspired him to pursue a career in this field. “My mom is a registered nurse, and she loves what she does. I would love to study and focus on helping families with children with heart defects. There really is no limit. I want to do my best and go forward!”
Justin explains the impact of receiving a scholarship from Children of Fallen Patriots has had on him and his family. “Thankful, so very thankful. My mom works hard, but there is no way she could afford to send me to Clemson, my dream school. I am so appreciative of everyone who gives and makes my dream come true.”
There are approximately 25,000 children who have lost an active-duty parent in the military over the last 35 years. The vision of Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation is to ensure that every such child receives all necessary college funding.
