Children of Fallen Patriots scholar Alexa F. is the daughter of U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Brian F., who passed away in 2016. When asked how family and friends would describe her father, Alexa says, “I can confidently say that anyone who knew my dad would describe him as selfless. He was constantly putting others and their needs before his own.”
With the help of Children of Fallen Patriots, Alexa graduated debt-free from Shenandoah University with her Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration. During her time at Shenandoah University, Alexa was extremely involved with extracurricular activities such as the Student Investment Club, Accounting Club, SOAR (Shenandoah Outdoor Adventure and Recreation), and the Food Recovery Network. “For SOAR, I got to organize and lead trips throughout the Shenandoah Valley and surrounding areas. Some of the trips include hiking, kayaking, and rock climbing.”
“Receiving scholarships from Fallen Patriots helped reduce my stress while I was in school. I never had to worry about how I was going to pay for tuition or my books. CFP made it easier for me to go to school and focus on what I was meant to be there for, to learn!” After graduation, Alexa accepted a position at Fallen Patriots where she now assists students like herself as a Scholarship Administrator.
There are approximately 25,000 children who have lost an active-duty parent in the military over the last 35 years. The vision of Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation is to ensure that every such child receives all necessary college funding.
