New challenge goes viral: How push ups are supporting veterans
Syracuse (WSYR-TV)
There is a new charity challenge that's going viral on social media. It's called the "drop and give me 10" challenge, and it benefits the Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation. The charity offers college scholarships to children who have lost a parent to war.
The folks at Dinosaur Bar-B-Que took part and challenged other downtown Syracuse restaurants to do the same.
"For us, it was a great fit because we feel really strongly when we approach holidays like Memorial Day we want to celebrate the spirit and the remembrance of all of those soldiers, so it's important to us," said Lindsay Amorese with Dinosaur Bar-B-Que.
Dinosaur Bar-B-Que also donated a portion of it's sales from Memorial Day weekend to the Fallen Patriots, which added up to more than $22,000.
Here's how the challenge works:
1. Record yourself doing as many push ups as you can.
2. Pledge a donation for each push up you complete.
3. Donate the money to Fallen Patriots.
4. Share the video using the hashtag #dropandgiveme10 and challenge your friends.
